Stuff I've Finished (and stuff I've not)

Okay, it's been about three weeks or so since I've blogged (no apologies, just sayin'), and I've finished a few items.

1. The Icarus Shawl:

After seeing Gina's beautiful white Icarus, I immediately bought the same yarn in a different color and cast on. I had the magazine already, but the shawl never jumped at me until I saw Gina's. I tried on hers and fell in love.

Pattern: Icarus, by Miriam Felton Interweave Summer 2006
Yarn: Alpaca with a twist, Fino, almost the whole skein
Started: April 2008
Finished: June 2008
Mods: I left out one repeat of the first chart so I would have enough yarn.

Full-on love all over that one.

2. A pair of socks for The Boy.

I'm planning on making a whole mess of socks this summer for him to wear to school next year. I only had three pair of hand knit socks for this past year, and the rotation was too heavy. He gets so happy when I throw a pair of hand knit socks in the pile of clothes to wear for the day (yes, I still pick out his clothes for him). How can you not knit up a whole mess of socks for a kid who'll really, really appreciate them?

Pattern: My standby Ann Budd pattern from The Handy Book of Patterns
Yarn: Regia Mini Ringel Color
Started: May 2008
Finished: June 2008

3. Teacher's Assistant's Gift washcloths

I love these washcloths. The yarn was a big 'ol pain in the butt until I got used to it and knit accordingly. Paired up with a pretty bar of soap it makes a nice last minute gift. (there was also a green one, but I can't find the picture. It's up on the Ravelry tho)

Pattern: Reverse-bloom Flower Washcloths
Yarn: Crystal Palace Cotton Chenille, yellow and green
Started: June 2008
Finished: June 2008

4. Super Mushroom

OMG I love this thing. I knit it for The Boy who is crazy about Super Mario Bros. (and Super Mario Galaxy and Super Paper Mario) I'm currently waiting for the yarn to make a knitted Mario. After that, maybe Luigi.

Pattern:
Super Mario Mushroom Knitted Toy by Emily B. Miller
Yarn: Various and odd
Started and finished: June 23rd.

I also started The Most Beautiful Scarf Ever.

This scarf was designed by Gina and named for the awesome Melissa (Lisha to her friends). The lace pattern is so pretty and looks hard, but it's not. It's perfect in solid yarn or variegated, and I love the cashmere. Can't wait to finish!

(If you click, ignore the dorky model. I heard she works for yarn.)
Yarn: Jade Sapphire Mongolian Cashmere

Oh, and I've also started two baby sweaters (Presto-Chango and Baby Surprise) and I'm trying a February Baby Sweater in a larger gauge for The Girl. The wips just keep piling up.
